Oprah Winfrey loses $24 million in one day

Oprah Winfrey  has lost $24 million thanks to Weight Watchers.Last year, she bought a 10 percent stake in the weight loss company for $43.2 million, joined the company's board of directors, became a spokesmodel for the brand and began its diet plan.
According to Reuters,on Thursday, the company reported a 21 percent drop in fourth-quarter net revenue, which sent its shares down more than 27 percent in extended trading. As a result, tWinfrey's stake plunged by about $24 million.. However, she has still gained almost $75 million since she made her investment, the news wire added.

On the day Winfrey first invested in Weight Watchers, its shares doubled in value, while she made $70 million in just a day and also single-handedly generated $700 million in stock market value in two days, Forbes had reported. In January, after she tweeted a video saying she lost 26 pounds on the diet program while still eating bread every day, company stocks rallied more than 16 percent and she made $12 million.

I kidnap people to raise money for my girlfriend's bride price-Suspect

Uzordima Chukwudi, a 29 year old lotto operator was arrested alongside Joseph Chiaotu, aka Ejima, 21, Anozie Chinonso, 25 and 27-year-old Chukwuma Agim, who is a prison official, in connection with the kidnap of a woman in Imo State.
Speaking to journalists during the week, Chukwudi said he was studying Mechanical Engineering at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State before he dropped out in his final year.
“What led me into kidnapping was unfortunate“My girlfriend is pregnant and I have been under pressure to pay her bride price but I had no money. She told me that since she became pregnant her mother had been ostracised by her fellow women in their village. The pressure was too much that I needed to look for money by all means.”
On how he came across the other suspects, Chukwudi explained that when the pressure became unbearable, he contacted two of his friends; Nnamdi, who is now in prison, and Chiboy, who later introduced him to Agim for the trade.
He told Punch
“Agim, being a prison official, was the one making way for us whenever we approached a police check point but our first operation was not successful because the person we targeted escaped. But on the second operation, Chiboy went with a policeman and they kidnapped the woman.”
He said for his involvement in the deal and for taking food to the victim in the bush, he was given N100,000 as his share. He said,
“Chiboy told me that he got only N1.1m from the woman but when we were arrested, the woman told us she paid N3m as ransom. The moment I got my own share, I gave my girlfriend part of it to start the preparation (for the wedding) while I went to the market to buy drinks. That was when I got a call from Agim and when I met him I was arrested.”
Agim, a prison official from Imo State who said he was lured into the trade by an inmate, Nnamdi, told journalists that even though he was able to buy clothes, settle his debts and fix his car with his N100,000 share in the ransom paid by the victim’s family, he regrets his involvement in the act.

He recalled that when he was posted to the Owerri prison, his mother, who was also serving in the prison, warned him to be wary of one inmate, named Vampire, and his friends so as not to get into trouble. He maintained that he was reluctant when Nnamdi approached him but that he later found the offer attractive.
He began, “I was in my final year student in Imo State University where I was studying Insurance. I was earning N43,000 monthly as a prison official and I was even thankful because I didn’t join the Service with a first degree.
“When I came for industrial attachment last year, our chief warder told us that there was a notorious kidnapper called Vampire who was arrested and would be brought to Owerri Prison. Early this year I met Nnamdi who was in the same cell with Vampire. Nnamdi first asked me to get him a phone and he offered me N3,000 but I refused. So, he met another officer who got him the phone. They kept pressurising me that they wanted us to be friends.
“So, one day, we sat behind the food store and they told me several stories about their escapade in kidnapping and I found it attractive. They told me they were rich people and they used to visit several popular bars in major towns in the South East and South South states and that when they observe rich people leaving the bar, they go after them and kidnap them.”
He said at the end of the conversation, they gave him a number and that with that he was able to link other members, including Chiboy, aka Eze Ekudeley, whom he called a big kidnapper, Ejima and Chukwudi.
He said they used to work with a policeman and that on the day they went to pick their victim, a woman, she wasn’t the main the target but she was traced to her house where she was picked.
“It was Nnamdi who called me to and look after the woman in the bush. I borrowed money from a friend and used it to buy food for the woman. I gave the food to Uzordima to give to the woman. I learnt the woman stayed for two days. I was given N100, 000 after the N1.1m ransom was collected. I bought clothes, settled my debt and fixed my car.
He said he was arrested few days after the operation.
“It was Ejima who led them to me. I regret getting myself into this mess he lamented,” he added.
On his part, Ejima said his share of the ransom was N70,000, out of which he used N10,000 to buy shoes and clothes.
“I don’t know how the police heard about what I did; they came after me and arrested me. I led the police to arrest the prison official and four other members of the gang, but we were unable to arrest Chiboy. He noticed the presence of the police and he attempted to escape. He ran into the bus and the police fired several shots at him but he wasn’t hit.
Chinonso, who also hailed from Imo State, said poverty led him into kidnapping.
“All I was looking for was a little money to buy a bus on hire purchase because the one I had got spoilt. I met Ejima recently and I told him I needed assistance because I had no job. He promised he would help me.”
He explained that he participated in the kidnap and that his share was N100,000 but that he was arrested when he was about hiring a bus.
“It was poverty that led me into this crime. I am a very poor person struggling for myself and my family. I have no one helping me and my mother is a very old woman. I pray this woman (the victim) and her family would forgive me, he said

This is the most dangerous sex position for men

A study has revealed the most dangerous sex position for men and it happens to be one position most men prefer.Scientists in Brazil conducted a study into the causes and symptoms of having a fractured penis. The results were published in Advances in Urology.
The research concluded:

"Our study supports the fact that sexual intercourse with 'woman on top' is the potentially riskiest sexual position related to penile fracture.
"Our hypothesis is that when woman is on top she usually controls the movement with her entire body weight landing on the erect penis, not being able to interrupt it when the penis suffers a wrong way penetration, because the harm is usually minor in woman with no pain but major in the penis.
"On the contrary, when the man is controlling the movement, he has better chances of stopping the penetration energy in response to the pain related to the penis harm, minimising it."

I will never marry an actor-Halima Abubakar

Halima Abubakar has opened up on the kind of man she likes, vowing never to marry an actor..Read excerpts from her interview with the Nation
On men finding her intimidating...
Well, that will be the man’s business because I didn’t tell such a man not to go to school, or have a library; I cannot afford not to be myself because of a man who feels intimidated by me. A man should even be happy to encourage me. Any man that is intimidated by a lady is not a man.
I have, however, learnt to be tolerant of people. I have learnt to ignore a lot of side talks; I have learnt to be patient with a lot of people, because I have a temper which I have learnt to control. I am working on myself. Also because of the way that I have been treated in the past by people, I really do not value friendship. I am trying hard to know people and that’s where patience comes in. I am still trying to open up; I hope I will be able to do that with a man that I hope to spend the rest of my life with. I do not want a man that I will spend just one year with and he’s gone. I don’t want a man that will make me pop out babies, then he will go clubbing. I will drag his hair to the house! I’ve had anger in the past, so it’s easy to piss me off and it’s easy for me to forgive. I don’t react; at the same time I’m not a robot, so I am bound to react once in a while.
How about marriage?
Marriage will come when it will come. You don’t rush it. It is one of the few things that one does not need to rush. Marriage is not a movie that one has to rush.  You do not marry because the public wants you to get married. You do not marry because you are getting old, you do not marry because you are too young. You get married when it’s the right time. You get married when you meet the right man, when you know that it is okay and the man too is okay. And you are sure that you are going to have a fine, peaceful marriage.
But there are guys in the movie industry, haven’t they been approaching you with subtle marital proposals?
Well, you do not get married because you are in Nollywood or because people there are proposing. Moreover I do not encourage people to date where they work.
Does that also mean that you are not likely to marry an actor?
I will definitely not marry an actor.

Shalom Blac INSPIRES! From being Badly Burned by Hot Oil at Age 9 to Beauty Vlogging

WOW! Beauty vlogger and makeup artist Shalom Blac‘s story is so remarkable. As a young girl in Nigeria, Shalom and her younger sister were badly burned by hot oil.

She tells the story via her YouTube channel.
When she was 9 years old, she was in her mum’s grocery store where she also sold fried food during the evenings. She was tired and wanted to go to sleep. Her mum asked her to sleep in the room inside but when she got there, she was scared by a cat so decided to sleep elsewhere on a table.
Her younger sister was also placed alongside on the table later on.
They both slept until they woke up suddenly after scathing hot oil fell on both sisters.
It was a terrible scene as they were rushed to the clinic but when they were told that there were no doctors on duty.
She fainted soon after…
Fast forward, it was very tough dealing with the scars. Glamour Magazine shares an experience Shalom had  –  “People began to stare at me, or look at me in a nasty way,” she recalls. “One of my neighbors, we used to play together, came in my house and when he saw me ran away crying.”
Eventually, an aunt helped the family move to the United States of America where she had numerous operations.
She was bullied and considered suicide.
Eventually, she discovered makeup and today she is an emerging beauty vlogger.
Watch her tell the story and also see a makeup video by Shalom Blac.

Lai Mohammed Says Nigeria Should Have a Social Media Code of Conduct as “Families, marriages have been destroyed just for the fun of it”

LAI MOHAMMED_0The Federal Government has advised the social media to set up code of conduct to regulate their activities in order not to lose credibility as a platform.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, gave the advice on Friday night when he declared Social Media Week closed in Lagos.
“Social media itself must understand that power without control is destructive. I think the social media needs to set up code of conduct.
“The power of social media is something that cannot be ignored but unfortunately today it has become a big destructive. Families, marriages have been destroyed just for the fun of it.
“Therefore, I advise the social media that for them to be credible you must be self regulated, but this government will not pass law to regulate you,” Mohammed said.
The minister said the Federal Government was prepared to diversify the economy through the creative industry and culture and tourism sector.
He said the provision of infrastructure such as power, road, rail system, security and other amenities was critical to the promotion of culture and tourism in the country.
“You cannot promote culture and tourism without fixing infrastructure,” the minister stressed.
Mohammed commended the Lagos State Government for providing infrastructure that aided the tourism attraction in the state.
He said by the time the Blue Rail Line project was completed in December, it would enhance the promotion of culture and tourism in the state.
The minister said the Federal Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Internal Affairs had a role to play to make passport and visa more friendly and accessible to promote culture and tourism in the country.
“The promotion of culture and tourism is a collective role of every ministry especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” he said.

This Guy Stole his female boss' Car to attend a Valentine party

A driver, Emmanuel John, has been arrested for allegedly duplicating his boss’ car key and attempting to abscond with it.
John, 26, was arrested at Abraham Adesanya Estate in Lekki last Sunday night for alleged attempted theft of the Toyota Corolla car marked EPE 642 DX, which he planned to take to a Valentine’s Day party at Splash Hotel in Sangotedo, Ajah.
John had a week before his plan, cut the Toyota Corolla key without the knowledge of his boss, Mrs Flora Ighalo.

On Sunday afternoon when he was not supposed to be at work, he allegedly sneaked into the Abraham Adesanya Estate residence of his boss, and took away the car with the cut key.
RRS quoted John as saying:
“I and my friend, Oscar, want to carry the Toyota Corolla to Splash Hotel’s Valentine Show on Sunday night. I persuaded Madam to give me the go-ahead to cut a spare key but she declined. A week before February 14, I duplicated the key without her knowledge in Obalende.
“Even though, she excuses me from work on Sundays, I sneaked into her residence and took away the car after church. I took the car to my residence in Ajuwe Area, Ajah, Lagos.
“My plan was that, after the Valentine show, it’s going to be stressful for me to leave the show around 3am, go home and freshen up and set out for Abraham Adesanya Estate around 4am for the day’s work, but with the car, it’s going to be easy for me to make it to work.
“After driving the car round Ajah, I was on my way home around 8pm when I saw Madam calling my set. She asked me where I was and I told her and she said I should come to her house that I was going to take her somewhere. I turned the car and I headed towards Abraham Adesanya Estate.
“I was at Abraham Adesanya Estate Roundabout trying to enter the estate, when a man double crossed me and RRS officials arrested me. They asked me where I took the car to since morning and I explained everything to them.
“Madam has been very nice to me. She pays me N35,000 monthly. I am almost like her family member. I am always at ease with her and her family
Mrs Ighalo, a tax consultant, said:
“At about 8:20pm, I was seeing off my in-law and to my surprise, I discovered that my car, Toyota saloon, EPE 642 DX, has been removed from the park.
“I immediately called few friends and one of them, got in touch with the operatives of RRS but it never occurred to me that my driver could take a vehicle I just brought from the church, with its key in my hand without my notice. Besides, he was not supposed to come to work on Sunday.
“Could he have come to my house without my consent and taken away my car? The car has only one key. Where could he have gotten another key?
“I called him to ask him where he is and he told me that he was at home. I told him to come and pick me to somewhere, he said okay. He came and we saw the car with him.”
Police spokesperson Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP), said the suspect has been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Unty Bella: Miss. Hard of Hearing

dreamstime_l_50612042

Aunty Bella is our  agony aunt column on BellaNaija. We launched this column in the early days of BN and periodically feature issues sent in by BN readers. We hope the BN family can offer insightful advice.
***
Good day Aunty Bella, please forward this to your blog readers and please ladies and gents. I am not really good with words but l will do this anyway.
Since I grew up to know myself, things haven’t been taking a good turn for me.
Just before I was admitted into secondary school I realized I had challenges hearing well. I finished from secondary school  and went further to university and completed my Bsc and God being faithful, nothing held me back.
I won’t really boast of being too intelligent, but this really helped me throughout my academic career as I can read and understand i.e sometimes if I couldn’t hear the salient points the lecturer passed across.
This really affected me to the point that notes being dictated in the class by the lecturer was always difficult for me to flow along with others. This has been going on and it has affected my life psychologically, socially, mentally and emotionally.
As per relationship-wise, I’ve never been in a relationship and I don’t know how being loved feels, as the only one I get is from family. Sometimes a guy or maybe a friend  may approach me and then begins a conversation then along the line I feel lost and then he/ she feels am being snobbish and sometimes I feel really ashamed.
Is there anyone out there who is stuck in this kind of condition because I am really worried and in my early 20s and I fear if this is how my whole life will be?
P.S:  I have a hearing aid but it’s not helping me at all. And please I’m not trying to attract pity-parties, I just want to know if there’s someone out there facing the same plight as I am. Plus I’m due for NYSC service this year. I don’t know how I will cope. Help! Thanks.
