Finally the election for mayor of the city of Dar es Salaam has been completed today at Karimjee hall , and witnessed Isaiah Mwita of the Association for Democracy and Development ( Chadema ) was declared the winner of the election.
Call has emerged with the victory and declared the New Mayor of the City of Dar es Salaam after receiving 84 votes beating his rival , Yenga Omary the Chama Cha Mapinduzi ( CCM ) , who received 67 votes .
The election has made history where for the first time since the introduction of multiparty system (1992 ) , the opposition party has had a chance to lead the city.
The election was postponed several times due to the tension that was emerging among members of the CCM and Chadema and sometimes sparking violence .
Unlike the case with other dates of planned elections and postponed when members with the court, officials at the highest level of Chadema with former presidential candidate for the party's ticket , Edward Lowassa were present to witness the elections.
