The construction worker, identified only as Lin, was surrounded by armed police and army personnel in a lengthy stand-off in the city of Sanya, China. At one point he took off his clothes and forced his girlfriend to strip to her underwear (centre). Finally he led her to a getaway vehicle which officers had laid on for him in a city square but police gave chase, threw him to the ground and led him away in handcuffs.

A construction worker held his girlfriend hostage on a Chinese rooftop after her parents reportedly refused to approve their marriage.

Hundreds of onlookers and armed police watched as the man stripped to his underwear and ordered his girlfriend to do the same so she would be shamed in front of their neighbours.

He announced he was going to kill her and claimed the 29-year-old regularly had affairs when he went to work, according to various local media reports.

At one point the man, identified as a 32-year-old named Lin, stripped completely naked.

He held his girlfriend by the throat and waved the meat cleaver in the air as trained negotiators tried to talk him down from the roof of the quiet residential block.

The man's relatives were brought to the scene on Monday to try and talk him down but had little luck.

As police and soldiers surrounded the rooftop, the half-naked kidnapper demanded a getaway car for himself and his girlfriend.

Eventually police provided one and, still holding his terrified partner, the man put his jeans back on and climbed down from the roof into a city square. 

But as he made his way towards the car officers gave chase, managing to pull him away from his girlfriend and throw him to the ground.

Still topless, he was handcuffed in front of hundreds of stunned onlookers and led away.

The man now faces a lengthy jail term - and according to reports, not even his own parents had approved the marriage in the first place.

The female officer also reportedly worked part-time as a maid in Dunnam’s home. She has been stripped of her job while her male companion was suspended without pay.

Dunnam pressed charges and Village Police Chief Gerard Larsen told the East Hampton Star that there’s “an ongoing internal investigation.”

Plastic surgeon Dr David Matlock, 49, met his wife Veronica, 38, when she visited his clinic in Los Angeles, California for vaginoplasty after giving birth to her daughter. Dr Matlock her out for a date, immediately proposed to her, and has been helping her to enhance her figure ever since.

Ever since they first met in 2007, Dr. David Matlock, a famous Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, has been using his body-sculpting skills to turn his wife Veronica into the perfect wife.

When Veronica first visited Dr. Matlock to ask about a vaginoplasty procedure after giving birth to her daughter, she had no idea she would soon become his wife. But he did. The beautiful brunette was 40lbs heavier and was so unhappy with the way she looked that she couldn’t even look him in the eye during their first conversation. The 49-year-old says diet and exercising could only take his body to a certain level, so he had liposuction done on his pecs, biceps and triceps, and used a technique called Vaser High Def Liposculpting, which he pioneered, to inject live fat into the biceps, triceps, calves, or pecs and give them a sculpted look. Today, both he and his 39-year-old wife compete in body-building competitions which keep them motivated to look their best. “Because he keeps himself looking good, it’s added pressure. So I feel like I have to look good, you know,” Veronica told Barcroft Media. The two eat six carefully planned meals a day, consisting of lean chicken, fish, rice and vegetables.

The Matlocks’ daughter, nine-year-old Isabella, doesn’t share their views on fitness and plastic surgery. She feels healthy food doesn’t taste good and says she would never want to go under the knife for cosmetic purposes, “because it’s not really you, like I want to be myself”. Veronica says that although her husband encourages her to get various procedures done, she feels he loves her for who she is, because when she first walked into his office she didn’t look very attractive, but he always tells her it was love at first sight.

This is the jealous student who hurled acid in her friend's face in a Katie Piper copycat attack.

Mary Konye, 21, attacked pal Naomi Oni while disguised in a Muslim veil.

Naomi, 21, was left scarred for life following the horrific assault in Dagenham, east London, on December 30, 2012.

London's Snaresbrook Crown Court heard that Konye attacked the Victoria Secret worker because she once called her 'ugly'.

Following the attack, Konye pretended to give Ms Oni a shoulder to cry on.

Dressed in black, Konye remained calm as the jury of eight men and four women returned their verdict.

Judge David Radford warned Konye that she will face jail when he sentences her on March 7 after receiving reports.

He said: "I should make clear that, in my judgment, this is a case that will, in all likelihood, need a substantial custodial sentence. It is inevitable, but it won't be dealt with until I have received those reports."

He thanked the jurors for their efforts, saying they had looked at the evidence "with great thoroughness, taking your time to reach your verdict".

Ms Oni burst into tears as she left the courtroom and was hugged by family and friends.

The jury reached its unanimous verdict following around seven and a half hours of deliberations after it was sent out yesterday afternoon.

The court was shown CCTV footage showing Naomi as she left work at the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford at around 11.30pm, shadowed by a stalker wearing a niqab.

Prosecutors alleged Konye wanted revenge against Naomi after rows and knew of her admiration for model Katie Piper – another acid attack victim.

Jurors also heard a claim that Konye changed her online profile photo to scarred horror villain Freddie Krueger after Naomi was attacked.

Brave Naomi previously told jurors: “As I felt the splash I ­immediately had the feeling somebody was trying to kill me. My instinct was to run and scream as loud as I could.”

Naomi said she was “hysterical” as her parents dialled 999 while she tried to wash herself in the bath.

She went on: “It was a dissolving type of sensation. I was saying nobody is ever going to marry me now.”

She suffered serious burns to her face and chest, lost her hair and eyelashes, and required skin graft surgery to cover the burns.

The jury that the day after the attack, Konye sent a mobile phone message to her friend, who was in hospital receiving treatment, saying "OMG, I can't believe it."

The attack is alleged to have been a copycat of that suffered by model and TV presenter Katie Piper, who was badly scarred and left blind in one eye in an assault arranged by her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, in 2008.

Ms Oni told the court that Konye was aware of how much of an impact Ms Piper's ordeal had had on her after watching a television documentary about it.

The pair, who had been friends since secondary school, fell out in April 2011 when Ms Oni allegedly accused Konye of texting her boyfriend and called her an "ugly monster".

Konye, a business and finance student, of Canning Town, east London, denied throwing or casting a corrosive fluid with intent to burn, maim, disfigure, disable or do grievous bodily harm.

BE AWARE WITH TYPES OF TILES AND THEIR USES

           TYPES OF TILES AND THEIR USES

As a professional tiler, a question that is always asked what is the best tile to use. There are loads of different ones available and the right one to use depends on the application. Every job is different and every application is different. Most tiles can be used on the same application but there are guidelines to follow. Four Counties are able to cater for all types and are approved to various levels of fitting requirements.
When choosing tiles for your new project, you need to consider what types of tile you require by looking at the durability and suitability of the application. For example, will the tiles experience lots of floor traffic? Is it a wet area? You wouldn’t want to put a shiny surface tile in an area where you are likely to be wet (eg. shower room floor). You would require a non-slip, hard wearing, tile.
Do you want the room to look bigger than it is?
Let me explain the different tiles for you.
1)  Ceramic. These are usually made from a mixture of clays and silicones pressed into shape and fired in a kiln. They are resistant to water, spillages and are easy to keep clean. Generally weaker than its equivalent the porcelain tile. However there are different grades and some can be hard wearing.  They can be used on most applications (walls and floors) but be careful though; some can only be used on walls due to their weakness weakness. Available in a wide range of sizes and colours.
2)  Porcelain. Are made from pure materials fired at high temperatures to produce hard wearing tiles. They are stain, shock, frost and chemical resistant. These are generally stronger than the ceramic and like ceramic are available in different grades and sizes. You may hear the words “grade 5”; this is a very strong tile and will withstand a lot of foot traffic and are extremely hard wearing. In my opinion, they are better for kitchen floor applications (unless using a natural stone). Porcelain are now becoming more available with that natural stone look but keeping the maintenance simple.
3)  Natural Stone. Some would argue that natural stone is by far the best looking tiles and this is quite true. Be warned though, natural stone requires more maintenance to keep its appearance. Made from natural occurring substances formed over long periods. This is what gives them the distinctive look with its varying colour and texture. Examples:  Limestone: creamy white appearance.  Travertine: a form of limestone with darker shades of beiges, creams, and browns. Slate formed over many years from volcanic ash to produce very durable dark stone and earthy colours. Marble: crystal structures producing almost translucent appearance giving a pure luxurious look. Granite: a form of harder stone. Most natural is generally weaker then the ceramic or porcelain but will be ok providing  the correct substrate is in place and correct adhesives etc are being used. Try looking for thicker versions. Unfortunately these will be more expensive. They will require sealing before use as they are of a porous material. Can be used in most applications.
4)  Variation of natural stone are honed: this is where the surface has been filled to lose its hole appearance and ground to a smooth surface. Riven: this is where the surfaces are irregular as the material is split by hand. Polished: this is where the surface has a layer of gloss and polished to create that shiny look.
5)   Quartz a man made product using quartz segments bind together with resins. Now becoming very popular and suitable for most applications but care must be taken when choosing the right adhesive to use.
6)   Mosaic. These consist of tiny squares usually on a mesh or paper background. These come as glass, porcelain, natural stone etc. Some would argue that Bisazza are the best in the world and produce some amazing products. Bisazza can produce virtually anything required…but be prepared to pay for it! They can be tiled as a full sheets on walls or floors or as borders cut to a specific size. If using these as a border, make sure the mosaic is not thicker than the tile itself as problems will occur in a non-smooth surface between tiles and mosaic.
7)   Quarry and terracotta made from clay products and fired at high temperatures to get the look. These need sealing in order to keep their colour and protect them from stains etc. The best use is for these are floors.
